For The Everyday

For the packaging, I really wanted to capture the essence of Amongst’s slogan - “For The Everyday” by developing a unique, full wrap landscape that was not only serene, but real, yet surreal through the use of subtle motifs.

It started with initial rough sketches of various things that could symbolize “The Everyday” then with a quick sketch to blend those ideas together before hopping onto Midjourney to concept and visualize what it could look like and test how the artwork would need to wrap.

Illustration Process

After setting the groundwork and confirming how the illustration would wrap and that this was the direction to go in, I contacted a few freelance illustrators and ended up going with one in France named Shin Syl - who’s known for making ordinary scenes extraordinary through color and composition.

I briefed and gave Syl everything from the sketches to the reference AI work, dieline and wrapping diagram so we could better frame the front and back of the packaging . Then we began the process of developing the key art. Syl would deliver some initial concepts to pick from then go into a color study while I art directed and produced.

Final Illustration Process

After determining which direction and color palette we wanted to go with, details began to get fleshed out along with colors and other small details from the rocks to the river, clouds, flowers, line streaks, and more.

A total of 8 iterations were sent before we landed on the final which serves as the artwork for the packaging to this day.
