During the 19-20 NBA season, I was tasked with developing and pitching concepts for "Fiesta Nights" which looked to build upon past celebrations of Hispanic and more specifically, Mexican culture, but in way that felt fresh, modern and appealed to a younger demographic.
This would go on to be the start of more deeply integrating Hispanic and Mexican culture specifically into the brand that still persists to this day and continues to evolve over time.
Below are some of the initial stylescapes showcasing the general design direction pitched to executives and leadership.
While the Spurs had previously taken a very conservative approach by simply using three colorful stripes on their jersey to celebrate the deeply rooted Hispanic culture in San Antonio, I wanted to expand upon that by introducing new shapes and elements inspired by Mexican and Spanish art and architecture.
